IE student hits the top in natl arts competition

DLSU-D's graduating Industrial Engineering student Rick Donald S. Manzon topped over 129 national entries in the annual Shell National Students Art Competition (NSAC) brought by the Shell companies in the Philippines.
With the goal of supporting visual arts among the youth, the competition, with the theme “Alamat Noon Para Sa Ngayon,” has set five categories: Oil/Acrylic, Watercolor, Sculpture, Digital Fine Arts and Calendar.
Two entries of Manzon under the Scultpture category made it to the top. His entry named “Bayanijuan, ” a 12” x 8” x 18” sculpture made of wire was awarded Honourable Mention last October 18, 2011 at the Ayala Museum in Makati City. Forty nine schools participated in the said competition.
Manzon is also the man behind the Light Show exhibited in the lobbies of CEAT last September 19-23, 2011 creating 9 Lampshades and 10 chandeliers made out of recycled plastic waste.
