DLSU-D athletes to compete in Russia

Seven athletes from DLSU-D have qualified to compete in the 2013 Universiade in Kazan, Russia after their excellent performance in the All Stars National Students Swim Challenge spearheaded by the Philippine Swim League under the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP).
The Sports Development Office (SDO) recently received the list of athletes who will represent the country in the 27th Universiade, an international sports event organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), under which the FESSAP is affiliated. The Universiade is better referred to as the World University Games or World Student Games and may be considered as the students’ version of the Olympics.
Among those who have been selected are members DLSU-D Tankers namely Kimberly Briones, Ren Herejias, Cherilyn Jurado, Rizaljun Jurado, Fatima Nempha Maestro, Mary Roxanne Maestro and Jerome Magallanes. “We are so proud of our athletes for qualifying for the Universiade. We are sure that they will train hard and do their best to bring honor to the school and to our country,” Eric Vargas, Sports Development Office coordinator said.
