PsyD faculty presenter-facilitators in PAP Convention

DLSU-D faculty actively participated in the 51st Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) Convention held in Cagayan De Oro on August 21-23, 2014.
Three faculty from the Psychology Department had shared their specializations in certain topics as presenters and facilitators.
Mr. Darren Dumaop presented a paper titled “Heterosexual Pinoys and Their Sexual Strategies: The Fitting of an Evolutionary Psychology Model” in the parallel session of the PAP Convention. Dr. Evangeline Castronuevo - Ruga and Mr. Ricardo Clores conducted one of the 11 workshops in the convention. The workshop titled “Braving Anti-LGBT Bullying: An Exploratory Workshop for Counselors & Psychologists” addressed the issues and concerns on bullying committed in the academe highlighting on the lesbian, gays, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. The workshop that includes a lecture, structured learning exercises and group discussion was conducted as part of the LGBT/Special Interest Group sponsored activities.
Dr. Armia Ebrahim, the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences of Cotobato City State Polytechnic College shared that “We all should reach the level of respect and respectability no matter how diverse we are.”
In the same occasion, Dr. Susan Mostajo, Director, Human Resource Management Office, was sworn in as licensed Psychologist. Dr. Mostajo is the 4th faculty member along with Ms. Rowena P. Heradura, Dr. Roslin M. de Ala and Dr. Evangeline Castronuevo-Ruga of the Psychology Department to be given the said license by the government’s Professional Regulation Commission.
With the theme “Philippine Psychology in the Midst of Change,” this year's national convention, had once again gathered members of the association in the quest for professional enhancement.
