Institutional Christmas 2016

De La Salle University-Dasmariñas celebrates the holidays with a grateful heart and caps off the year with the institutional Christmas party aptly themed: "Sama Sama para sa Pasasalamat."

The celebration will feature major highlights like the grand draw of the Share the Animo Raffle Surprise (STARS) for the benefit of the University's priority programs such as Scholarships & Financial Assistantships, Training & Research, Advocacies & Formation, Relief & Rehabilitation as well as Services & Facilities.

The gathering will also have among its highlights the first ever DLSU-D Chorale and DLSU-D Singing Duet competitions to be held in time for the Institutional Christmas Party on December 16.

Both events seek to encourage to boost camaraderie, unity and respect with this friendly competition within the Lasallian community.

Mechanics:

1st DLSU-D Chorale Competition

  1. The 1st DLSU-D CHORALE COMPETITION aims to value camaraderie, unity and respect through positive and friendly competition amongst groups.

  2. The Chorale competition is to open to groups representing each of the seven colleges, POLCA, Alumni, KABALIKAT. The chorale size is from 18 (minimum) to 25 (maximum) members, including musicians/accompaniment. There is no age limit.

  3. The Chorale will perform either one of these two songs:

  5. Criteria for judging:
  6. Musicality (Arrangement, Strength and Suitability of Soloist, Blend and Pitch and Vocal Technique): 30%
    Timing and Interpretation (Ensemble Work and Articulation): 25%
    Choreography (Performance Energy, Stage Presence, Audience Rapport, Synchronization of Movements   and Ensemble Awareness) 25%
    Costume and props: 20%

  7. Performance time and Penalties:
    • Each chorale is allotted no more than eight (8) minutes to perform the chosen piece. Timer starts when the first note is sung.
    • Exceeding 30 seconds or more but less than a minute = 1 point deduction from total cumulative score.
    • Exceeding 1 minute to 2 minutes = 2 points deduction from total cumulative score.
    • Exceeding 2 minutes or more = 3 points deduction from the total cumulative score.

  8. Choreography, costume and props.
  9. Proper decorum in choreography is highly encouraged and should complement the song. Routines must be appropriate for family viewing. Any vulgar or suggestive movements (hip thrusting, inappropriate touching/slapping/positioning to one another, etc.), words, costuming or music will result in a 50% score deduction. Absolutely, no tear-away costumes or removal of clothing allowed.

    The EVENTS COMMITTEE has the right to deprive performance of a group due to costume technicalities.
    Only hand-held props are allowed and encouraged. Please do not use fog machine, confetti, flammable materials, water and other material that may inflict harm to the members and the audience.

  10. Accompaniment.
  11. Each chorale may use recorded or live accompaniment. Three microphones will be set on a uniform level by the judges.

  12. Registration will start on November 14 and end on December 5. Confirmation of groups’ entry will be announced on December 12.
  13. Order of performance will be determined by drawing lots on the day of the competition. The drawing of lots will be on a first-come first-served basis. Please look for Ms. Roanne.
  14. The decision of the JUDGES is FINAL.

1st DLSU-D Singing Duet Competition (Your face sounds familiar)
  1. The 1st DLSU-D Singing Competition aims to value camaraderie, unity and respect through positive and friendly competition amongst the University’s employees and stakeholders.

  2. The competition is to open to contestants representing the following groups: Faculty, Retirees, USC, Almers, and Administrators. There is no age limit.

  3. The contestants will choose one song from the following genres: OPM, MOTOWN, Manila Sound, 1970s, 1980s, and Country.

  4. Criteria:

  5. Musicality (Arrangement, Strength and Suitability of Soloist, Blend and Pitch and Vocal Technique): 30%
    Timing and Interpretation (Ensemble Work and Articulation): 25%
