Physical Education Department (PED)

The Physical Education Department of DLSU-D seeks to promote the physical development and well-being of students through organized sports, gymnastics, dance and aquatics. Specifically, it aims to help students develop and maintain physical fitness and at the same time provide opportunities for the development of desirable social habits.

Objectives

Committed to the values of faith, zeal, and communion, the Physical Education Department seeks to promote the physical development and well-being of individuals through organized sports, gymnastics, dance, aquatics, and calisthenics.

Mission

The PE Department aims to revive and preserve the Filipino cultural heritage through indigenous games, sports, songs, and dances.

Distinct Features

The program includes activities that:

  1. help students develop and maintain physical fitness through varied physical education courses and subjects;
  2. provide opportunities for development of desirable social habits and traits.

Through these activities, the Physical Education Department of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas becomes truly instrumental in the development of a healthy and alert citizenry.

    Adapted Physical Education Adapted Physical Education is a diversified program for developmental activities in games, sports, and rhythms suited to the interest, capacity, and limitations of students with disabilities and who may not safely or successfully engage in a structured participation in rigorous activities of the general Physical Education program.

Guidelines

  1. PHED 101 is a pre-requisite subject. Students who fail PHED 101 shall not be allowed to enroll in other P.E. subjects.
  2. PHED 101 is offered during the first semester, while PHED104 is offered during the second semester. PHED 102 and 103 is offered during the 1st and 2nd semesters.
  3. PHED 103 is compulsory for all students.
  4. Students are allowed to take only one P.E. subject each semester and they must finish their P.E. subjects within the first two years of study at DLSU-D.
  5. The grade in P.E. is included in the computation of the Grade Point Average (GPA).
  6. Varsity team members are excused from taking P.E. subjects but are supposed to enroll in the required P.E. subjects as well.
  7. Performing Arts Group (PAG) members and ROTC officers are excused from taking PHED 102 and PHED 104 subjects but they are supposed to enroll the required P.E. subjects as well. They are required to take PHED 101 and PHED 103.
  8. Varsity, PAG members and ROTC officers are required to attend three meetings within the Prelim Period before they can be excused from attending their PE class.
  9. Students with physical disabilities may take the Adapted Physical Education program. Medical certificate duly signed by the school physician is required.

Requirements

For Freshmen:
  • Physical Examination is at the DLSU-D Clinic.
  • Students with special, physical needs may take the Adapted Physical Education program.
  • Medical certificate duly signed by the school physician is required.
For Transferees:
  • Certified true copy of P.E. grades and the corresponding description of P.E. subjects taken.
For swimming classes:
  • Swimsuit and cap for women
  • Swimming trunks for men
  • Padlock for lockers
For other PE classes:
  • DLSU-D P.E. Uniform

BPE Scholarship

The scholarship program aims to significantly contribute to the goal of the university to have 20 percent of its students on scholarship.

Objectives:
  1. Provide educational assistance to qualified third and fourth year students of BPE who belong to economically challenged families, with good academic standing, and who excels in this field of physical education.
  2. Make BPE more marketable.
  3. Cultivate interest in the field of Physical education.
